Most people call us after they’ve already decided a wall looks wrong. That part is easy. The harder questions are what goes on the wall, what it gets printed on and whether it will still look good three years from now. We work through all three with every client before anything goes to print.
The Kinds of Businesses We Work With Here
Costa Mesa has an unusual mix for a city its size. There’s big retail at South Coast Plaza, independent shops and restaurants at The LAB, The CAMP and along 17th Street, design showrooms on South Coast Drive, office buildings near the airport and creative studios on the Westside. Each of them needs something different from a wall.
Retail tenants usually have a brand standard to follow and want graphics they can change when the season changes. Restaurants care more about grease, heat and constant wiping near the kitchen, so we laminate those walls even when the rest of the room doesn’t need it. We’ve written more about that in our guide to wall graphics for restaurants.
Interior designers and architects mostly want two things from a print vendor: an early warning when a file won’t print well, and a finished wall that matches the spec. We’ll send material samples and give you a real lead time, and we mark seam placement on the proof so nobody is surprised on install day.
Offices tend to ask for a logo wall in reception, a mural in the break room or something that makes a windowless conference room feel less like a storage closet. Clinics, med spas and schools care more about the material than the design, because their walls get disinfected every day and some of them have to use low emission products. We’ll tell you which options qualify.
Vinyl or Wallcovering? How We Decide
This is the question we hear most.
Vinyl is the right call for decals, logos, partial walls and short promotions. It installs fast, and it comes off cleanly when you move out as long as it went up on fully cured paint.
Printed wallcovering is what we suggest for full walls you plan to keep. It’s thicker, it hides small dents in drywall better, and the panels meet edge to edge, so you don’t see overlapping seams.
Textured walls are their own problem. Knockdown texture is common in Southern California offices, and regular vinyl pressed over it looks like shrink wrap on gravel. On those walls we use a conformable film, or we tell you the texture is too heavy and wallcovering will look better.
Renting Your Space? Check the Lease First
Most businesses in Costa Mesa lease their space. Before you approve a design, look at what your lease says about wall finishes and what has to be removed when you leave. Some landlords only allow removable vinyl. Shopping center landlords usually want to approve the artwork and set the install hours. We’re happy to send your property manager a spec sheet and our license and insurance details, so you’re not stuck passing emails back and forth.
Will Your File Hold Up at Wall Size?
A photo that looks sharp on your phone can fall apart on a ten-foot wall. The same goes for most AI-generated images, which come out at a size meant for a screen, not a print. Send us what you have. We’ll check it and tell you plainly whether it will print clean or needs work.
How Pricing Works
We don’t post a price per square foot, because a single number would be wrong for half the jobs we do. The cost depends on the size of the wall, the material, how much prep the wall needs, how much design work is involved and when the install happens. An after-hours install for a store that can’t close costs more than a weekday morning in an empty office.
To get an accurate quote, send us:
- 1. Your wall height and width
- 2. Whether the wall is smooth or textured
- 3. Photos of the wall and the room around it
- 4. Your deadline
We’ll price it, then meet with you at your space or over video to work out the design. Before install day we test the wall so we know the material will stick, and we send proofs until you’re happy with them. Then we print and install.
Why a Local Installer Matters
When wall graphics fail, it’s almost always at the seams and edges, and it usually shows up a few weeks later. Our installers work for us, and our shop is in Costa Mesa. If a corner lifts, we come back and fix it.
If your storefront glass needs attention too, we also do window graphics for Costa Mesa businesses.
